I would have never thought of putting salsa, smoked salmon, and Thai peppers together. But Michael Hanzuk did, and the result is pretty darn tasty!
I mixed the salsa (I picked the hot, with silver salmon option) with cream cheese, and ate it with blue chips, orange bell pepper, and arugula. I really liked the combo, especially the addition of bell pepper and cream cheese, which balanced the spice a bit (there are milder options available).
Aside from liking that smoked salmon salsa is a nice departure from standard salsas, I also really like Michael’s story. He has a full-time job with the state (where he has to deal with marketing geeks like me all day!), is finishing up a degree at UAA, and also makes and sells his salsa salmon. So he’s a government employee, a student, and a small business owner – must be a pretty interesting perspective!
Michael makes me remember that just because you know someone in one slice of their life, you don’t know (and may never know) the whole pie. Of course, I’m the kind of person that loves getting to know the whole pie – everyone is so interesting!
Currently, Hanzuk’s smoked salmon salsa is sold at the Natural Pantry, and you can find more information about the product here www.salsasalmon.net if you’d like to try some yourself.
