One of the best parts of high school is when it’s long over, re-meeting people and learning about their journeys.
Scott Clendaniel’s journey so far includes becoming an artist who splits his time between McCarthy, Anchorage, and various adventures. I remember him, back in the high school days, as simmering with energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity about everything. It’s fun to see how he’s directed those characteristics into his work.
Look at this cute little pig with his broken nose. He’s nestled by a tree near my home. I don’t know where he came from; he just appeared one day, a surprise pig.
A friend of mine hired Gage Tree Service to light the huge pine tree in their front yard. Isn’t the result spectacular? The sheer size of the tree is impressive, but with all those lights shining, it’s really something special.
The last few times I’ve walked down our street, I’ve seen “I love you” written in the snow, always with an exclamation point at the end; a joyous and emphatic statement.
It’s cold and dark, but sunsets like this are our reward…here’s to the winter solstice and more sunlight in our lives!
Nordstrom is known for their great customer service and quality shopping experience. They openly accept returns, have incredibly helpful salespeople, and their salads are some of the best in town (the salad thing is random I know – but they are SO GOOD!).

This little house (I think it’s actually a car rental business) is sandwiched between two boring, beige buildings. I just love it – so cheerful and slightly off-kilter. Wonderfully smile-inducing.
I’m a bit late to the Parks for All party, as the fundraising is done and all that’s left is to build the playground and then get down to the business of playing, but I wanted to write about it because it’s such a cool project and is a good example of how just a couple of people can make a big difference in our community.
Does anyone else love going to Alaska Mill and Feed to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree (or Bells, or Home Depot, or pretty much anywhere that sells Christmas trees) this time of year?
