Love Note: You’ve Got Mail
One of the best surprises is opening the mailbox and finding a letter or care package. It’s not the kind of love note I usually write about (since my focus is love notes to our city) but it’s the perfect way to tell someone they are special! A handwritten card filled with good thoughts, especially in this age of instant, electronic communication, brightens any day.

I love when the Bohemian Waxwings come to town. They are mesmerizing as they swoop and swirl from tree to tree, filling the air with their chirping. And, I really love their name.

My Dad’s a (Second Place) Chili Champ!
My dad entered a chili cook-off for Anchorage Downtown Rotary – it was a bit of a blind leap, considering he’d never made chili before.

Once upon a time, there was a volunteer cross-walk guard who guided Romig Jr. High students as they crossed Minnesota on the way to school. A student mentioned in passing that her 13th birthday was the next day.
“Hard Hat Tour” – Covenant House’s New Home
Do you remember how a few months ago I was hoping to go on a hard hat tour of a cool new project? Well, today I got my chance! Covenant House opened the doors to their new home (obviously still under construction as shown in the above photo) for downtown-ers and I got to poke around and ooo and ahh* to my heart’s content!
