Detail: Turquoise Tiles at the Downtown KBC

Turquoise Tiles

I love these tiles – they cover the entire front of the curving coffee bar in the downtown Kaladi Brothers.  When I describe the tiles to people, they never seem to remember them, but the first time I walked in the door, they struck me as a beautiful way to use color and texture.  I have a half-wall in my home that I hope to someday cover in tile, either light blue or soft green squares or white penny rounds. Thanks for the inspiration KBC!

Something’s Sizzlin’ in Downtown Anchorage

Chef Chris

A couple days ago, my friend Ryann and I got together for lunch at the Sizzlin’ Cafe – brand new to me, an old favorite for her. I can’t believe that not only had I never been there, I’d never even heard of it – I’ve been missing out for the last seven years! Stories Around Town: Horse Break, Ski Train, and Nude Modeling in Alaska

books

This photo has nothing to do with the headlines I’m sharing here, but the books are pretty (some of my favorites!), and some of them are stories…it’s a stretch I know, but it’s been a long and wonderful but busy week.  And it’s finally Friday, and I’m excited to relax with my husband, my dog, and a glass of wine. We might just watch Rock of Ages (again…what is it about this movie?!). So for these reasons, you get to enjoy the least relevant photo I’ve yet to post on this blog! And of course, sample some fun headlines from the last couple weeks.
