Last weekend, I encountered something delightfully unexpected – a-local-as-you-can-get florist’s pop-up shop in Alaska’s only department store: Bloomsbury Blooms on the second floor of Nordstrom.
Startling, right? And yet, it totally worked!

Loving Ketchikan
Last week was my first visit to Alaska’s first city: Ketchikan. Like the other Southeast Alaska towns I’ve visited (and loved!) it offers the ocean on one side and mountains on the other – the best of both worlds! It was 60 degrees and sunny while I was there, and I didn’t touch my rubber boots or raincoat once; apparently, this is not normal.

This is my favorite painted wall in downtown Anchorage right now. So simple, so pretty, art for a parking lot. I love that someone took the time to create this.
