In a “blink and it’s here” arrival, autumn has come to Anchorage. Leaves are yellowing, evenings are dark again, and the clouds and intermittent rain add a blue grey tinge of chill to everything that makes me long for apple cider and soups.

Live Music in Anchorage: Bigger and Better than Ever
Did anyone else miss out on tickets to the Modest Mouse – Summer Solstice Party at Moose’s Tooth? Did you glance at your phone and sigh as friend after friend posted videos and photos from the concert? No? Well, check out this photo album and tell me you’re not just a teeny, tiny bit envious…feeling it now? Take heart, dear reader: although there have been a ton of great concerts in Anchorage recently (hopefully you made it to one or two or more), there are even more on the horizon!

Love Note: Coffee with a Cop
SUPing with Drift
A couple weeks ago my buddy Jess invited me to go stand up paddle boarding (SUPing) with her and my immediate response was “I am SO in!”
Love Note: Williwaw Rooftop Deck
Ten+ years ago, I met two friends in Philly and spent an evening catching up on a rooftop deck. It was an urban oasis – the deck was alive and warm, with flowers and greenery surrounded by tall, tall glass buildings on all sides. It felt like we were floating in the middle of the city, and I’ve longed for something similar in Anchorage ever since. And finally, we have one!
On a gorgeous summer evening, Williwaw’s rooftop deck is the perfect place to kick back with a drink, listen to music, catch up with friends, snuggle with a sweetie, and enjoy the fire pit as the warmth of the sun fades away.
Bambinos Frozen Baby Food
Don’t be surprised if someday Anchorage’s Zoi Maroudas-Tziolas rules the world of baby food (or maybe straight up rules the world). She founded Babmino’s Frozen Baby Food during 2012 and after learning more about it, I’m convinced that it’s the future of fine dining (and casual dining, and snacking) for all the little people in our lives.
Naturally Effervescent: Zip Kombucha
The times, they are a changing here in Alaska. It’s impossible to know what the future will look like, but we all know it will be different. I still believe that Anchorage (and Alaska as a whole) is a place where you can thrive, and despite dire rumblings about state budgets and oil prices, the Alaskan entrepreneurial spirit remains strong. For every depressing news story I read, I learn about a new business opening its doors.
Case in point: Zip Kombucha.
Love Note: Welcome North Goodbye
I love typography…hence, my love of the new (at least, new to me) sign at the Anchorage museum. It made me think about cool signs in general – what are your favorites?
Restaurant Roundup: What’s New in Anchorage?
There’s been a lot of notable activity this spring in the Anchorage restaurant scene; if you haven’t been following closely, read on to catch up: What’s new, what’s newly remodeled, and who’s closing their doors.

K Street Eats
Today, on a formerly empty lot K Street Eats was born. Eight food trucks lined the edges, a crowd filled the middle, and the sun shined on all of us.
