Earlier this month I visited New Hampshire for my brother’s wedding. His wife (my new sister-in-law! Yea!) is from Portsmouth, and her parents live in Franconia, so although they are fellow Anchorage-dwellers, the wedding was held back east.

Happy Smiles
Congratulations to my brother and his bride! Aren’t they adorable?
This is one of my favorite photos from the big day: The “I dos” were said, the kiss was had, and guests were departing for the reception. These are “we did it!” smiles – don’t their faces just radiate pure joy? Every time I look at this picture I start to smile.
I’m so very, very happy for them.
At Last, the Light Brigade!
I’ve been eagerly awaiting the Light Brigade’s celebration of the equinox/Over Beyond Across Through art intervention since JANUARY. My anticipation was heightened by the occasional Facebook update or more recently, glimpses of practice sessions against the museum façade on my way home.
It was worth the wait.
The Bell Tolls
This evening, we attended a ceremony at the Alaska Fallen Firefighter Memorial outside of Fire Station 1 on 5th and A Street.
Alaska State Fair Food
Apart from the gigantic produce, adorable baby pigs, ferris wheel, crazy fair hair, curious goats, people watching, Bret Michaels/Phillip Phillips/Foreigner/Bill Cosby/whichever-act-has-sunk-low-enough-or-not-risen-fast-enough-and-is-on-the-fair-circuit, local artists, and hawkers who shout, “Hey you! Yeah, you with the face!” people seem to go the State Fair for the food.
A Home Built with Love
The ribbon cutting for the new Covenant House was tonight. It was a heartfelt celebration of our community creating something special for a part of our population that doesn’t have much to call their own. And now, they have a place to call home designed just for them, full of people who want to give them a better start in life.
Upcoming Arts in Anchorage (Legos! Chaplin’s Little Tramp! Young Hip People!)
I stopped by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce “Make it Monday” forum – Anchorage and the Arts to learn about what the 2013/2014 season will look like.

Love Note: Yoga in the Park
Tomorrow is the last day for Yoga in the Park this summer! I’m sad to say I didn’t participate… somehow, I always had something else going on, or forgot until it was too late. Bummer for me. I did stop to snap this photo on my way home one evening (I guess I could have stopped to practice, but a skirt and a sweater just didn’t seem like the most yoga-riffic clothes); I think the participants were “letting go of their days and making room for yoga in their lives…” at this moment.
I love that the Alaska Club puts on this event in the summers, that it’s free to everyone, and that so many people (I bet they’ve passed 200!) participate. Maybe they’ll extend through August, especially if our good weather sticks around?
Anchorage Garden Club Tour (Must Love Tomatoes!)
The Anchorage Garden Club Tour was yesterday, and three of the gardens were just a short walk from my parent’s house. My mom and I decided to check them out.

Anchorage Mini Maker Faire
After DJ, Grover, and I celebrated Ted Stevens Day in Cuddy Park, we moseyed over to check out the inaugural Anchorage Mini Maker Faire on the Loussac Library lawn.
