A cop, a pilot, and a divorce attorney walk into a bar… sounds like a joke, right? But at the Bubbly Mermaid, an intimate oyster and champagne bar downtown, it’s the kind of grab bag of fellow fizz drinkers you might be lucky enough to spend your evening with.

Teen Underground
Do you know about the Teen Underground? It’s a project that was gifted to Loussac Library by Anchorage Downtown Rotary and many generous donors a couple of years ago – I went to the ribbon cutting, and marveled at the colorful, sleek, fun new space, but didn’t visit again until yesterday when the library board got a tour.
Hot Toddy
I seem to have caught the bug that is going around. One minute I was fine, the next I had a full-fledged cold (one of the reasons I didn’t go for round two of Joey Fender and the 55’s last night!). Here’s hoping it’s not the three-weeker some people have.
Gingerbread Village @ the Captain Cook Hotel
Somehow my list of things I wanted to do during the holidays got away from me. Parks for All: Coming Soon!
I’m a bit late to the Parks for All party, as the fundraising is done and all that’s left is to build the playground and then get down to the business of playing, but I wanted to write about it because it’s such a cool project and is a good example of how just a couple of people can make a big difference in our community.
Christmas Tree Hunting
Does anyone else love going to Alaska Mill and Feed to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree (or Bells, or Home Depot, or pretty much anywhere that sells Christmas trees) this time of year?
