I popped into the Anchorage Museum Crafts Weekend on Sunday, and had a great time browsing the booths.
When I was driving home tonight, out of the darkness came Santa on a bike. He waved at me as he rode by, his cheeks rosy and his beard bright white under the streetlights while his hat flopped jauntily over his forehead. He seemed a bit under-dressed for the weather in just a long-sleeved red shirt, but maybe he was going so fast he wasn’t cold.
I have to pile on to the jubilation that is happening right now on Facebook, overseas in Sweden, and in XC skier’s homes all over the U.S because it is so ridiculously exciting:
Our women’s team (Kikkan Randall, Holly Brooks, Jesse Diggins, and Liz Stephen) placed THIRD in the 4 x 5k World Cup relay!

Last night we went to Anchorage Downtown Partnership’s holiday tree lighting ceremony for the first time. It was a bit chilly, but we bundled up, and the carols, Santa, real live reindeer, and of course, the tree lighting were well worth it.
I love these door handles. They are funky and fun, and the perfect way to set the experience of dining at Snow City Cafe, which is also funky and fun.
I might need utensils this big for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Looking forward to turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes!
When I was little, I thought that every state had their own airlines, and the people who lived in each state got to fly on it. Makes sense, right? Florida Airlines, Montana Airlines, Vermont Airlines…
Is this a love note to our long, snowy winters?
I’d like to think it is… I loved wandering past this SUV, I am sure that someone has had plenty of amazing winter adventures in this vehicle!
A friend and I trekked over to the Park Strip the other day to give Wheel Good Food a try. We were already both avid Facebook followers/newsletter subscribers, but so far hadn’t done anything beyond drool over their menu and feel happy that fancy food trucks are finally arriving in Anchorage.
